At the age of 27, Shandrow purchased, renovated and began managing his first Long Beach investment property. Now, a decade later, Mark has successfully invested in real estate and managed properties for an array of clients. Currently, he owns some 20 rental units and a real-estate brokerage, Shandrow Group.
Shandrow grew up a well-traveled Navy brat. His father’s military assignments took him to both U.S. coasts and in between, as well as to Italy and Japan. Mark’s family eventually moved to New Hampshire, where he attended high school.
Since 1996, Mark and his wife, Karen, have called Long Beach home. The pair met at the University of New Hampshire, where in 1990 Mark earned a Bachelor of Art Degree in Economics from the distinguished Whittemore School of Business & Economics. Upon graduation, the couple journeyed across the U.S. in search of a place to settle and they landed in Long Beach’s Belmont Shores. They now reside in the historic California Heights neighborhood with their two children, Nolan, 7, and Ava, 4.
Prior to becoming a real estate agent, Shandrow helped start the nationally acclaimed Bikestation, at the time, a non profit organization. As the executive director, he traveled the country pioneering the concept of creating livable communities through increased bicycle and public transportation usage. The marketing and public relations skills that Mark gained in the non-profit arena were instrumental in building his client-focused real estate business today.
While working during the day for Bikestation, on weekends and evenings Shandrow occupied his spare time buying, remodeling and selling real estate as an investor. Realizing that he loved working on business deals and helping people achieve their dreams he Mark turned his true passion into his chief career.
When he’s not busy assisting his clients, Shandrow enjoys traveling with his wife and children, surfing at dawn, skiing, hiking, biking, scuba diving and scouting for exciting business opportunities.
